Venice, Saint Mark's Square 2

















This is Saint Mark's Campanile which dominates the skyline. The locals call it el Paron de casa which means "the landlord". On a clear day you can see all of Venice and even as far as the alps. It was started around 900 AD and began life as a watch tower for the Romans. it wasn't until 1512 that it got converted into a bell tower.
