London, Tower Of London 8

But here we have the main event. This building is called the Waterloo Block and was formerly the barracks. Now it houses the Crown Jewels. Once more we were not allowed to take pictures inside so you'll just have to go see them for yourselves. It was an interesting method of display though. All the various jewels and coronation regalia are kept in enclosed cases down a long hallway. On either side of the cases is a moving walkway. It's a smart way to keep the line moving, you can't linger or block someone else's view.

It was kind of hard to absorb the Crown Jewels. They were all so crusted with gold and gems, some of them truly gigantic so it almost felt gaudy to the point of being fake, even though in your head you knew this was the real deal.
