Seine 6

Next on the river was the Musée d'Orsay. Built in 1900 it started out life as a train station. That ended in 1939 after which it went through several uses including a mail sorting station. By 1970 it had fallen into disuse and plans were drawn up to make it into a hotel, but they decided to go with an art museum instead. It opened in 1986 and now holds 2,000 paintings and over 600 sculptures.
