OG Bell

This ship is called the Dunbrody, and is an exact, seafaring replica of the original Dunbrody that was built in 1845. There were many of these famine or "coffin ships" as they were called, they chose the Dunbrody because it had an exceptionally low mortality rate. Most attribute this to her captain, John Baldwin with many written accounts talking of his dedication.

The Dunbrody was owned by the Graves family, and when they heard about the building of the replica it turned out they had kept the actual bell from the original ship. They donated it to the museum and it hangs where it would have then.

Not the most uplifting part of the visit, but a vital reminder of what people went through, and go through to come to America.
