Next up was another aircraft with a personal connection. This is the Convair B-58A Hustler. During the cold war this was the Air Force's quick strike nuclear bomber. Thankfully never used for that purpose. Dad told me about how they would need to break in new tires for these airplanes at Bunker Hill Air Force base in Indian while he was stationed there for what was called the "Third Lieutenant Post." They would let him ride copilot as they roared up and down the tarmac getting the fresh tires settled.
