Mucking About Two

We got an extensive tour through the house, and Mari confirmed there were a lot of similarities, especially the bell pull system. It was built in 1843 for Henry Arthur Herbert and his wife, the watercolourist Mary Balfour Herbert. Much of her art is still on the walls in various rooms. In 1911 it was sold to the Bourn family who in 1932 gave the house and its associated 11,000 acres of land to the Irish people as a gift. This became the seed for what is today Killarney National Park.
