Bob Andrews

Mari's Dad, Bob Andrews passed away yesterday. Much like with my grampa if and when an obituary is sent I will update this with that news.

Update: The obituary has been posted.

Robert Freeman Andrews, 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

He was born to Claude and Marge (Simons) Andrews in Sparks, Nebraska.

At the age of 28, in 1960, he had open heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to correct a birth defect which was a defining moment in his life.

On June 5, 1982 Robert married Carolyn L. Andrews, who survives him along with a son Aaron Andrews of Albany; daughters Mari Greer and husband Jeff Greer of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Debbie Palmer and husband Rob Palmer of Clovis, California; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Robert graduated from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska with his Bachelor of Science in Education. He taught school for 38 years beginning with a job in a one room school house in the Sand Hills of Nebraska.

Robert moved to Vale to teach and then finally to North Albany Middle School, where he stayed for the remaining 20 years of his teaching career.

After retiring, Robert worked with Bill Offitt and the judges of Linn County to establish the Linn County Law Library.

His presence encouraged those in the community.

At his request no services are planned.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Benton Hospice in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington Street, Albany, 97321.
