Photographically Underrepresented
Had dinner with Mari and the folks tonight, and as we came out the sky was this beautiful mix of contrasting dark and light puffy clouds. It was almost surreal. Of course it was also one of the moments that a camera, especially a cell cam, just can't capture properly. Oh well.

Dishonorable Mention
Finished Dishonored 2, where you can play as the original hero Corvo or his daughter Emily. Played through it with both, not as good as the first but still a great game.

We Meet Again
This could also qualify for the "Now and Then" series. The once yearly Policy Committee meeting, which requires fancy dress is here again.

Going Topless
The state capitol building is being restored, last retouched in 1956. They are going to take the top off and work on it over the next few months. Here's two brave or crazy guys being hoisted up in a little box by a construction crane to work on the spire.

Sun Soaked Secrets
Mentioned in my streetscapes series I try and walk through the park near my work every day for exercise. However it's starting to get way too hot for that so this might end until fall. In the meantime there are these stone circles running along one side of the park, one for each county in Tennessee. I recently learned from a passing tour group that they are time capsules set to be opened in 2096. Here's my home county, Sumner.

Now And Then: Dog Docs
Picking up some pills for Tara takes me back to this post.
Dr. Fredin became Dr. Duke and Dr. Duke has become Dr. Granato.

Geburtstag
Flowers for Mari, my amazing, perfect wife, on her birthday!
love is more thicker than forget
more thinner than recall
more seldom than a wave is wet
more frequent than to fail
it is most mad and moonly
and less it shall unbe
than all the sea which only
is deeper than the sea
love is less always than to win
less never than alive
less bigger than the least begin
less littler than forgive
it is most sane and sunly
and more it cannot die
than all the sky which only
is higher than the skye.e. cummings

Good Knight
Finished Batman: Arkham Knight which is the last in the Arkham series. The entire series has been good and this one was no different but I can see why the company that makes it is moving on. The mechanics have been used as much as they can, I think any more would start to feel repetitive. The first one was Arkham Asylum but it might have come out before I started blogging as I can't find any reference to it around here.

Bob Andrews
Mari's Dad, Bob Andrews passed away yesterday. Much like with my grampa if and when an obituary is sent I will update this with that news.
Update: The obituary has been posted.
Robert Freeman Andrews, 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.
He was born to Claude and Marge (Simons) Andrews in Sparks, Nebraska.
At the age of 28, in 1960, he had open heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to correct a birth defect which was a defining moment in his life.
On June 5, 1982 Robert married Carolyn L. Andrews, who survives him along with a son Aaron Andrews of Albany; daughters Mari Greer and husband Jeff Greer of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Debbie Palmer and husband Rob Palmer of Clovis, California; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Robert graduated from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska with his Bachelor of Science in Education. He taught school for 38 years beginning with a job in a one room school house in the Sand Hills of Nebraska.
Robert moved to Vale to teach and then finally to North Albany Middle School, where he stayed for the remaining 20 years of his teaching career.
After retiring, Robert worked with Bill Offitt and the judges of Linn County to establish the Linn County Law Library.
His presence encouraged those in the community.
At his request no services are planned.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Benton Hospice in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington Street, Albany, 97321.

Still Despicable
The Ireland clan and us (not sure about that grammatically) went to see the third Despicable Me movie. Really good, there hasn't been a dud in the series yet, but the first one is still the best one.

Getting Carded
Hearthstone is a free to play, digital card game put out by Blizzard that I played for a little bit when it was first released. I liked it but I had other things to play and it kind of fell by the wayside. Visiting Scott plays it a lot, so we fired it back up and did some deck building. It's a nice side-game, simple to play doesn't take a ton of time and you can play it across platforms, so on the pc and also on your phone.

Rollin' Old School
I was a big D&D player through jr high and high school, and even though I haven't played since then I've kept up on the editions as time has gone by. I've also played plenty of video game versions in that span. My nephew Scott is in town visiting and he plays, so we got the family together to make characters. We might not have time to actually start a campaign but it was a lot of fun to sit around a table and watch Scott try to explain the system to Mom and Dad. Mari having played various video game versions was familiar enough with the rules. I mean we met playing the original Neverwinter after all! For posterity my mom made a gnome cleric and dad an elf wizard. Mari went human paladin (as always.) Good time.
