Continuing my love of the SR-71, they just released this Hi-Res shot of the cockpit. Not sure Blogger does it justice since it shrinks pictures to fit post limits, but full screen in original format this is amazing. (To me.)
It was indeed fun to have taken you to see the SR-71 many years ago. It was an impression aircraft. It was used to fly the Mediterranean and collect images of Egypt and Israel to support the truce after the middle war between the two nations. The images were exploited at NPIC, CIA facility at the DC Naval Yard. Once evaluated by the US, copies were made and sent to both nations.
At the time, it was better resolution from satellites than the SR-71. Once the real-time satellite data was available, he SR-71 was obsolete.
