Venice is made up of 118 small islands that populate the Venetian Lagoon. As with most things we saw during the trip there are all kinds of rich history to go with this area, but there's a reason those things fill entire books on their own. Research at your own leisure. If you look at the map above, provided by a glassmaker we will be visiting later, you can see that together the islands have a fish shape.
