Winning

IT work is like war, periods of boredom punctuated by moments of terror. Well, maybe not terror but definitely tension. The entire Exchange system went down today, scrambled to figure out why, researched, found the answer, fixed it. One of those really satisfying moments, like solving a difficult puzzle. The above e-mail is not mine, BTW. I'm firmly against the abuse of exclamation points, they never did anything to anybody.

Occasionally over the weekend we run a special backup to an external drive. It has secret judicial type info on it so it has to be kept protected. The drive is encrypted and when we take it over to for storage we do it in these nifty double locked briefcases. I feel very James Bond walking the street with these, if only it had handcuffs attached to the handle to complete the appearance.

More Human Than Human

Finished this today, really good.

ASUSESE

This is cool on it's own, but doubly because ASU is involved. They are working with the Johnson Space Center to digitize and preserve all of the flights films related to the Apollo missions. Found here.

Nesting

Payton saw the old nests in the trees in the front yard and wanted to make his own. So, here it is. No takers yet but it's only a matter of time.

Christmas Finale

We finally got to have the last leg of Christmas with Lonnie, Amanda, and Payton. Much of it spent as it should be, gaming.
