Management Material

Although to be fair Mad came out and slept on the deck for a little while today. Never saw Princess Mystic.

Yard Help

Tara is an outdoorsy dog, she stayed out and helped the entire time.

Lumberjeff

Two days of work and eight big trash bags later, we have a yard again.

Splinter Cell

We had a small storm Friday night, nothing big. So it was a surprise when we came downstairs this morning and found a full 1/3 of our Bradford tree had fallen down.

Hoi Chummer

Shadowrun was one my favorite tabletop games a long time ago. They still make the tabletop version, and there have been a few fairly bad video game attempts. This new version tried to stay true to the game it was based on and did a good job (with the possible exception of the matrix portions.) It was made with Kickstarter money, so it's production values weren't top notch but it was still fun.

It's Alive!

And bam! For 30 bucks (solder gun, solder, solder pump, capacitors) and a little time it works.

In With The New

Then you have to solder the new ones into the board. You might notice the new ones are bigger, the problem was the old ones were too small. It was a bad design, these should last much longer.

Out With The Old

Bad capacitors out.

Liquefy

Now here's where it gets tricky, you have to desolder the capacitors from the circuit board. You liquefy it with the solder gun there in the front, and that silver pump tube sucks the solder away.

Crapacitor

And sure enough, the two capacitors I was told to check were blown. You can see them with the black gunk on the top, that means they've cracked and are leaking.

Guts

So I cracked it open.

Fix It Felix

This will probably involve more pictures than it warrants, but I'm particularly happy with the both project and the results so...there. I think it all started when I read this article in Wired about a new fixer movement. As it happens soon after our TV broke. Rather than chuck it I went online and found that there was a capacitor issue with this particular model, and some YouTubes on how to fix it.

Long Term Tara

So Tara is back, and this time indefinitely. Her family moved to California and couldn't get a place that would take her, so until they do she is staying with us. Otherwise it was a kennel or some other, worse option and we couldn't let that happen. We'll see!

Mike and Sully

We went and saw Monsters University on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Mostly because there wasn't anything else playing we hadn't already seen. It was pretty standard underdogs win stuff, but still good.
