Bloomers

I think I take this picture every year, but it's my favorite tree in bloom so you can't blame me.

Famishment Sports

I'm the only one I know who wasn't thrilled with this series in book form. I mean it was decent, but I don't see the phenomena. Went with the Kramer clan to see the movie today. First it was just nice to be out of the house, and second it was a good movie. Really solid acting. Didn't somehow make me love the series, but I'm game (Get it? Game?) to see the next two.

I haven't even looked at my computer in four days. FOUR DAYS.

We've developed an intricate plan of escape involving a big spoon, a flashlight, and a squeaky toy.

Sweat It Out

Saw the doc this morning, officially have the flu. The meds work great I feel much better already but I've been quarantined. It's very catchy so I've been told to sequester myself at home until Sunday. I don't think I've ever been quarantined before.

Rollin'

Sushi good. Trying something new called the Amazing Grace. Still not as good as Mari's mango rolls, the search will go on.

So Easy A Caveman Could Do It

These have been put up around work. I resist the urge to be snarky and point out cavemen also died when they were 20. I respect the ideology behind the campaign, but who thinks up these slogans?

Deluge

It rained from dawn til dusk today. I really don't have anything to add to that. Just a meteorological observation. And I liked the warpy water effect.

Chilly Con Carnage

A solid follow up to "The Steel Remains".

Metro

Downloaded and created a virtualized Windows 8 install based on the Consumer Preview just released. I'd also done this for the Developer's Build early on but it was pretty much unusable, which was to be expected it was just out there for developers. The new tile desktop which MS calls "Metro" takes some getting used to. On a tablet it's supposed to be really good, on a desktop with keyboard and mouse...not sure yet. But you can flip away from Metro and go back to Windows 7 style desktop anyway, so the real proof will be in stability and performance.

LEDing The Way

New LED bulb. The good news is they are even more efficient than the CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs), they don't have mercury in them, and they last 23-25 years. The bad news is one bulb costs 25 bucks. But hey I guess that comes out to a dollar a year. For the Earth!

The early bird gets...wait I've done this one.

Weather Waning

Two days of red alert result in ten minutes of intense rain and hail, then it's over. Not complaining mind you.
