The Colosseum was built in 72 AD and is the largest amphitheater ever built, being able to hold up to 80,000 spectators. As most people know it was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and even dramas.
