A critical failure in the power infrastructure completely took down the datacenter we share with the police, despite their massive battery array and a diesel generator. Fixed now, but it meant many hours of work late into the evening, with emergency UPS strung out all over the place.

Idolatry Again
...And another standing in a long line that stretched around the corner out of sight. I'm guessing this was the line to go sing and the other was just for spectators or some such.
Idolatry
American Idol is holding auditions in Nashville today, at the Municipal Colosseum right next door to my office. There was one crowd up on top....

Splintering Off
Well Elder Scrolls Online lasted a pretty long time, but eventually all games must fade. So, back to the games on my list that have been neglected in the interim. First up, Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Amped Up
Here it is all set up. Yes I still have the pink guitar. Mari also got me a tweed looking cord to match the style of the Orange. It might seem strange but this is the first time I've been able to hear myself play without the backing music of Rocksmith, just the pure sound of my plucking coming out of the amp and it's been a cool experience.
Modern Vintage
Love Orange's kind of vintage look and color scheme (though you can also get them in plain, boring black if you want. Who would?)
Aging Oranges
My slow progress on the guitar continues and I have been wanting to do some things outside of the XBox and Rocksmith. So my sweet wife got me this combo amp for my birthday! I've always liked the Orange brand, more than a little influenced by one of my favorite bands (Clutch) using them.

Raise The Roof
They were fast and it looks fantastic, a subtle two tone black and grey. Really happy to have found a solid, reliable contractor. Between Harley Dalton Construction and Lee Company it's nice to know we have "go-to" people for anything on the house.

Shingle Shedding
More shingles from the roof. It looks really bad now, but the good news is we've settled on a roofer. The same people who did such a good job on our front door, and he is giving us a great price because he knows about our problems with State Farm.

Echoing E.T.
Lonnie and Payton came up for the long 4th of July weekend, so we went to see a movie Mari and I would normally avoid. It was better than expected though.

Among The Starbucks
This is the ISSpresso, created by Italian coffee maker Lavazza and scheduled to be taken up to the ISS in November along with the first female Italian astronaut. For the first time astronauts will be able to have fresh brewed coffee and espresso. I like stuff like this not just because it's an interesting engineering challenge, but because the more "normal" space travel gets maybe the more excited people will be about pursuing it.
