2001 in 2012

Been a while since I posted anything spacey. This picture has been making the rounds and I really like it so my turn to share. It's an unmanned resupply shuttle, stuffily named "Automated Transfer Vehicle 3", docking with the ISS. You've got the spotlight from the ISS and the lights and boosters on the transfer vehicle backdropped by the curve of the earth and the field of stars... it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. But that's really happening up there. How can you not want more of that?

Easter Egress

And then, all too suddenly, she had to go home. Seeing family makes you remember how much you miss them, so we're going to have to Bend some plans and fix that someday soon.

Masters Debate

We tried to think of some exciting activity out in the world, but rather than do something for the sake of doing it we ended up just relaxing today. Casie mentioned the Masters so we watched some golf and had some good conversation. Breakfast at Mimi's, really great dinner at Texas Roadhouse, keeping up the fine Greer tradition of guests = eating a lot.

Cowboy Up

Took Casie to the refurbished Opry Mills (which we hadn't seen since the reopening), wandered around (the place was crazy packed, lines everywhere), saw the Hunger Games again (just as good the second time. I'm in the minority I think, but I like the movie more than the book), and ended the day with some cowboy sushi at Kohana. All in all a really good day.

Fall Fail?

This book was hard to judge. I kept thinking the dialogue and the characters were a little clunky, but then I devoured it in two days so there must have been something compelling about it.
