Where The Night Bus Stops To Eat

We hit the Night Market for a little dinner, some fresh produce, and my chance to meet some of Mari's coworkers.

An Ill Wind

So those bad storms hinted at yesterday were worse than advertised. No damage here, but over 300 dead, mostly in Alabama. Guess worrying about a water heater seems like a luxury now.

Rain Shy

It's been raining all day, and big storms are on the way. I don't want to buy another water heater.

Game Over

Just finished Ender's Game, a classic of Sci-Fi and for good reason.

1st 2nd

The Preds make it to the second round for the first time! I'm pretty sure this captured Barry Trotz doing the Robot.

Good Friday

I'm still not sure why JIS gets Good Friday off, but I'm not going to complain. Sleep in, bum around, watch a little Arrested Development, play a little Blood Bowl.

Drowned Out

I read mostly Fantasy and Sci-Fi, so every now and then I like to cleanse the palate by reading something I normally wouldn't. I randomly grab something that is well reviewed but not necessarily in my comfort zone. Enter We, the Drowned a fictional recounting of interesting characters that populate a town called Marstal over the course of 100 years. Some sections were completely gripping and I chewed them up, other times it seemed to drag. Overall pretty good though.

Old School

I present to you the original Blood Bowl. And anyone who knows me knows it's a miracle I still have this, as I am as opposite a pack rat as you can get. Notice the high quality box art is as subtle as the game title. Not enough blood though. Or bowls. You can't call the thing Blood Bowl and have neither blood, nor a bowl.

Fantasy Football

Before there was fantasy football, there was the oh so subtly named Blood Bowl. A board game from the late 80's, it's hard to describe, the closest thing is chess. You have 11 playing pieces on your side, each has specific movements it can make, throw in some dice rolls. Anyway, I played the heck out of this in Jr. High / High School (I was this cool back then too, can you believe it?) A computer version has been out for a few years, it's an exact recreation of the board game, only now a computer rolls the dice. I ignored it, then Steam had it on sale for super cheap so I figured what the hell. Really been having fun playing it again, more than I expected.

Cat Filler

Wasn't going to post this, having chosen the other picture as my "Pic O' The Day", but I like the Mango Super Action Blur Effect(TM) so thought I'd go ahead and throw it up here rather than just delete it. Besides, given my sporadic posting lately this place could use a few more pics.

Trunkcated

Mango helps bring in the groceries. And by help I mean wander around the trunk then do his best job of tripping you while on the way into the house.

4 Gs Are Better Than 3

Just got my new 4G mobile broadband. Prognosis = noticeably faster than 3. Also, powered by apples. That's apples, not Apples.

Shuttle Sunder

A few pictures of NASA taking apart Discovery. Little known fact, the space shuttle was mostly built from aluminum foil and erector sets.

Wipe It. Wipe It Good.

Re-upped the ole' man badge today. Replaced the wipers on the G35. I didn't even use tools, because I'm hard core.

A Repetition In Resplendency

My favorite tree is a late bloomer, but worth it. I realized after taking this, I think I take the same picture every year. So hey, why stop now.

iCrutch

The big storm knocked out our cable and Internet for an ENTIRE DAY. An ENTIRE DAY without Internet people. I now fully understand the trials the pioneers went through.

A Mighty Wind

Here's the view from my office around 2 in the afternoon as a powerful storm rolled through the area. The effect of the wind was something to see from this vantage, as it whipped things around and blew a motorcycle down in the parking lot over. No damage at home, though many trees were knocked over and our cable is out, just some scared pups.

Caterwauling

Went and saw Cats tonight at TPAC. Neither of us had seen it or really knew what it was about. Around two scenes in we were both thinking this is the longest running show on Broadway? It steadily got better and the singing was great throughout, so no regrets at all. But still, I can't quite see how it blew up like it did.

Mashup

If you like superheros and zombies you'll love this surprisingly well written book. If you don't like superheros and zombies, you probably won't.

WOTM

That time again. Let's hope this month is more exciting, or at least more photogenic than the last.
