Obama gave his "End Of the Iraq War" speech tonight. The man can still sling an eloquent word in a moving way, even if his presidency hasn't entirely been the change I was hoping for.

Farm Fresh
Lunch with coworkers at the Farm House Restaurant which is on the grounds of the Fontanel Mansion, which I had never heard of before.

Brought To You By
In-show ad recap, where the characters will obviously interact with some product during the show. Eureka = Subaru, Degree. White Collar = Ford. Warehouse 13 = Twizzlers. Leverage and Burn Notice = Hyundai. Smallville=Stride Gum. I guess if it keeps the show on the air...but still.

Third Heater's A Charm
So we came to an understanding with Lee Company which I found reasonable. They will replace the tankless unit again, free of charge, if we will agree to pay to have a water sensing sump pump and drainage hole put into the crawlspace under it. We're still out some more cash, but it's not nearly as bad as it could have been. They needed the serial number off the tank, but it's right up against a wall so I couldn't see it. This was my bright idea to get it, take blind pictures with my cell phone until I hit on it.

Oh Hell No
What you are looking at here is cold water. In March we got a new tankless water heater. Then of course in May the great Nashville flood happened and wiped it out. Well it rained last night. Hard to be sure but nothing close to flood worthy, and guess what? Water filled up in just the corner of the crawlspace the tankless is located and fried it. Again. We're pissed to be blunt. When the flood happened we asked them to move it into the garage and the technician assured me it was in the best place and this would never happen again barring an epic flood. Lee Company is sending a supervisor out tomorrow to talk to us, and I'll be damned if I'm buying my third tankless water heater in 6 months.

Love Toy
More than any dog I've known, Mad has always loved toys, but she's become especially attached to this football we got her a few weeks ago.

Mo' Dem Modems
Comcast informed us it was time to upgrade our cable modem to one that is DOCSIS 3.0 compatible and they would be happy to lease us a new one. No thanks. A trip to Best Buy later we're running on shiny new hardware.

Bad Apple
Although I am a Windows / Android fan, I try to respect those of my brethren who go Apple. Competition is a good thing, and all systems have strengths and weaknesses. Still, I can't help but feel a little glee when the "easy to use and never has any problems" mystique is tarnished in a public demo of the iPad.

Hostile Work Environment
There was a shooting right outside my building today. Hard to see, but this is a picture of the many police cars and two fire trucks, with part of the parking lot taped off. If there's anything fun to be said about something like this, the guy fired eight shots from close range and only managed to hit his target once in the foot. I guess if someone is trying to kill you, that'd be the guy you want.

Results Matter
A nice little surprise in today's paper. I already knew this via e-mail, but I contributed to this and sent e-mails to various politicians. Was cool to see it in print.

Old West Redemption
I've been waiting to play this, despite rave reviews, because I was hoping it would be released for PC. But someone at Mari's work was nice enough to lend it to me via her, so I dove in. It took some getting used to the controls, but really is as good as the hype.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time
I love games, and I love Disney, but the two rarely go well together. So I have very high hopes that Warren Spector's Epic Mickey will change all that, and after watching an interview with him tonight they're even higher.
