Forbes 500
La Ha was a bit off today as our fearless leader Brent couldn't make it. However as luck would have it we ran across this chap, Winston J. Smithington III. The gregarious shipping magnate filled Brent's absence by regaling us with tales of his world travels and economic conquests.

Grand Theft Steamboat
Well...maybe not quite. Still, beautiful cover art on this month's Game Informer reveals a new Mickey-centric game in the works aimed at more mature gamers. The most interesting bit to me was an observation by the lead developer on returning Mickey to his roots as a mischief maker. "They took his mischievousness and his anger and need for revenge and gave it to Donald. At some point they took his naïve simplicity and gave it to Goofy. They took his loyalty and infinite affection and gave it to Pluto of all things. They took his character and just shattered it, and all of a sudden he’s kind of a straight man for the gang." Never thought about it that way before.

BOL
I've been breaking in my new machine with a lot of Grand Theft Auto 4. It doesn't have the complex particle effects of RE5, but it does have to render a lot of artifacts on the fly depending on how fast you're driving. I also enjoyed the game manual, which was done as a mock "Best Of" edition of Liberty City's alt weekly "On Liberty."

Nook
We went by Barnes & Noble hoping to get a look at the Nook, but they didn't have any in yet to play with. So we got a Nook sized brochure instead. Looks pretty cool, reserving final judgement for now.

No Animals Were Harmed In The Making Of This Pizza
Mari and I have slowly been giving up meat, we're down to just chicken and fish. I don't think we'll ever truly go veggie, but we've decided to start "vegetarian Saturday" where we'll explore different vegetarian recipes and options. This Amy's mushroom and olive pizza = incredibly good.

Gatesomatic 7
Installed Windows 7 this morning without a hitch. So far, running like a charm. Vista users won't see much difference on the front end. Lots of under the hood changes, it runs a little faster, and some new bells and whistles. My favorite new toy: If you have a lot of windows open and just want to minimize them all but the one you are working on. "Grab" the window you want and shake your mouse a little. It flicks away all the other windows.

7 Of '09
The surprise arrival of the day, courtesy of my Dad's Microsoft hookup. A copy of the final Windows 7 release, a week early.

Disturbed
Usually when someone says "Are you sitting down for this?" it's just a cliche. But tonight I needed a chair. My cousin married a bad man.

Dirt Nap
This is someone at work's home computer. The power supply choked to death on the gunk built up in it and they wanted their hard drives saved. Canned air people!

Status Check
Two weeks? Pfeh. If I obsessively check over and over I'm sure it'll magically be delivered tomorrow.
