Nothing To Crowe About

A nice afternoon in and out of the heat. Went and saw State of Play, which was decent. Then a little shopping, and finally ending up in Barnes and Noble for books and a caramel frappuccino. I forgot my phone at home, so you get a canned image.

Ottoman Arm Pile

When the foam padded armrest breaks off your computer chair, don't just throw it away! You too can convert it into a pneumatic, rolling ottoman. Just unbolt the arms and back, and there you have it. Handy for putting feet on, or your laptop. Dog butt not included.

My Brain Hurts

Braid on the Xbox 360. At it's core Braid is an homage to Super Mario (and Donkey Kong on certain levels.) A 2D sidescroller with one command. Jump. But then it ads a second button, and the ability to manipulate time. Things get really interesting from there. It also has a really good musical score and beautiful "hand painted" backgrounds. I recommend it, but I also admit near the end I used a helper from Gamefaqs because some of the more complex time twist puzzles were starting to frustrate me.

Warding Off Boredom

This was another random buy, I had never heard of the author before. Which made sense, since this is his first book. It's served me well so far on an extended press night, I think it was a good find.

It's Not The Location Of Walt's Cryogenic Chamber

But it might be the small print on the back, where for "as little" as $1000 down and $263 a month (Plus a one time closing cost of $334, a yearly payment due, and various transaction fees) you can join the vacation club that "pays for itself in only 7 vacations." Hey, it costs a lot to keep that chamber running.

Whenever Tara and Maddie get in the same room it's all raised hackles and teeth. So we've had to separate the house with a blockade on the stairs.

Meet Tara. Our friends Wade and Rebecca went to Barbados for their anniversary, so we get to watch her for a week. She's a big, lovable goof of a German Shepard. We've watched her several times in the past and she and Mystic get along like best friends. Unfortunately this is the first stay since we got Madison...and they do not get along so far.

This week's new product sample a work: Potato chips in salted margarita and Bloody Mary flavor. I only tried the margarita, but it was surprisingly good.

Behold, the first edition with our new, slightly smaller page size and interior layout. I have to say, I really like the new look inside. It's sharp and clean. Cover story about abuse at a nursing home, with our yearly Spring Fashion Guide insert.
