Mari and I at the protest. The Predators outfits were not coordinated. It rained halfway through so I still had the poncho around my neck. Side note about not judging books by covers. The guy in the background was really into the whole protest, but if I'd seen him out of context I would have assumed other things. You never know do you?
There were a lot of good signs, too many to post or get a picture of them all. Here's one example. Ours was a poster on one side listing all the things the TACO Turd needs to keep his grubby hands off, and the other said No Kings. I liked one that had a picture of John Lewis and said "Make Good Trouble." but I could never get a clear shot. Later, from pictures of the Nashville protest, Mari pointed out my favorite sign. It said "Things are so bad, even the introverts are out here." I identify with that.
There were several speakers lined up. Opening with the pledge of allegiance followed by a non-denominational pastor leading everyone through a prayer. Later some civic leaders and a former soldier. I thought this was nice, a message to the other side that we love this country, more than them in fact. We aren't anti-American, police, solider. Any of that. We're against fascist cruelty, hatred and chaos.
The organizers for the Gallatin event hoped to get 200 people. This is deep red, relatively small town Gallatin remember, not the thousands they expected in our little blue jewel called Nashville. They got well over that.
We were on our way to the No Kings protest in Gallatin to join others in voicing our displeasure with the TACO Dick Tater. As we were walking to the event we passed this. Many years ago we hired John Pellegrin to help clean up some of Lonnie's legal woes and he was great, he was probably one of those key figures in the past that helped Lonnie get to where he is today.
A while back we got a packet of random wildflower seeds from a nature charity we support. So I threw them in this pot just to see what happens. Not sure what these are, but they grew and one of them made a very pretty flower.
