Lotsa pickets were picked out.
It was replaced by a metal frame gate which should be lighter, easier to open, and if it sags you can adjust it.
After 24ish years our fence needed some work. We've replaced boards here and there, or even a section when the tree fell on it. Bit it needed a big overhaul. It was leaning outwards on the right side of the house, the gate was falling apart, and many new boards were needed. Still, an amazing run for a wooden fence.
First they removed the old, sagging, all wood gate.
It was a nice gathering, Nathalie had a special award thingy made (not sure what to call it, trophy doesn't sound right either.) Here she is giving it to Will with his wife in the background. It was nice to give him a proper send off, having known the guy for sixteen years. Time do fly.
I parked up away from the house to make sure others had a spot, being in the mighty Jeep and all. Here's the view from this side.
The longest ever employee at JIS, Will Gordon, retired a while ago but due to health issues never got a proper send off. So we're heading out to his house in the boonies of Columbia to have a belated party. This was the view for most of the way, two lanes and lots of trees.
Mari took Dad and I out for dinner to celebrate Father's Day. I was trying to take a picture of him with the unique "smokey" drink he got, but the phone cam did this interesting focus take of him that turned out nicely I thought.
I have a fun relationship with "my kids". Casie and John were kind enough to send me this really nice card for Father's Day.
Mari and I at the protest. The Predators outfits were not coordinated. It rained halfway through so I still had the poncho around my neck. Side note about not judging books by covers. The guy in the background was really into the whole protest, but if I'd seen him out of context I would have assumed other things. You never know do you?
There were a lot of good signs, too many to post or get a picture of them all. Here's one example. Ours was a poster on one side listing all the things the TACO Turd needs to keep his grubby hands off, and the other said No Kings. I liked one that had a picture of John Lewis and said "Make Good Trouble." but I could never get a clear shot. Later, from pictures of the Nashville protest, Mari pointed out my favorite sign. It said "Things are so bad, even the introverts are out here." I identify with that.
There were several speakers lined up. Opening with the pledge of allegiance followed by a non-denominational pastor leading everyone through a prayer. Later some civic leaders and a former soldier. I thought this was nice, a message to the other side that we love this country, more than them in fact. We aren't anti-American, police, solider. Any of that. We're against fascist cruelty, hatred and chaos.
The organizers for the Gallatin event hoped to get 200 people. This is deep red, relatively small town Gallatin remember, not the thousands they expected in our little blue jewel called Nashville. They got well over that.
We were on our way to the No Kings protest in Gallatin to join others in voicing our displeasure with the TACO Dick Tater. As we were walking to the event we passed this. Many years ago we hired John Pellegrin to help clean up some of Lonnie's legal woes and he was great, he was probably one of those key figures in the past that helped Lonnie get to where he is today.
A while back we got a packet of random wildflower seeds from a nature charity we support. So I threw them in this pot just to see what happens. Not sure what these are, but they grew and one of them made a very pretty flower.
I had never played any of the previous Armored Core games, they just didn't look like my cup of tea. But Fires of Rubicon got great reviews, so when it went on sale for cheap I figured I'd give it a shot. Well, my instincts are usually right, this wasn't my kind of game. It was fine and I finished the first run through, but I didn't do a lot of the side stuff and to get the "true" ending you have to play through it three times. I did not. At least it was fairly short.
I came out this morning and found the bird cam feeder on the ground staring up at the sky. Not sure how this happened, though the last picture before it fell had a squirrel in it. Still it would take some doing to lift the whole thing up and slide it off the screws. I don't even know if a squirrel is strong enough to do that. Maybe I didn't put in on properly after the last fill.
We had heard about people putting these stickers on their Teslas but not seen one in person. This was in the Costco parking lot today. I blacked out the license plate, just felt odd posting someone else's plate number for whatever reason.
The first day of running our training class actually went really well, but when I came in this morning I got a little surprise. The second half of the staff is a much bigger group. Yesterday we had about forty people, today we expect double that! Oh boy.
One of the client departments for where I work is doing a two day training and team building thing. They asked JIS to come in and do an hour long talk on cybersecurity. One today, one tomorrow since half the staff is doing it one day, and the other half the second. Ya'll know how much I love talking let alone in front of a big group.
A while back they released a DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 called Phantom Liberty. I just finished playing it. Not only did it add a bunch of content including another whole neighborhood and an excellent new story line, but they completely overhauled and updated how many of the game's systems worked. Cyberpunk has easily climbed into the pantheon of my favorite games, and they are working on a sequel. Can't wait!
